Hotel Ritz

The Hotel Ritz is part of Madrid's history. King Alfonso XIII, after making a European tour noticed the lack of a luxurious site in the capital of Spain, which was erected as one of the major drivers in its construction. Madrid needed a suitable hotel establishment to house the European nobility of the time. Work began in 1908 and ended in 1910.

This iconic building has hosted royal houses of many countries, high dignitaries from around the world and has always offered a service and excellent service and quality, as befits a five-star hotel.

Alfonso XIII quickly realized that was not enough the hotel offers 167 rooms which proposed the Ritz and contacted George Marquet (owner of a chain of hotels in the Costa Azul) and encouraged him to build another luxury hotel in Madrid. the best location was chosen, the Plaza de las Cortes No. 7 near the political center (Congress of Deputies), the (Puerta del Sol) social center and financial center (the Exchange). The origins of the hotel date back to 1912, was built in only 18 months and already in the beginning was distinguished as the most modern hotel in Europe.

Since its inception, the Palace was a social success, the nerve center of meeting of the aristocracy and gentry. Many of their celebrations rivaled directly with the Ritz.

The Palace was born with the vocation to be a unique building and acquired the importance of being a historical building among other reasons because of its location in the neoclassical axis of Paseo del Prado. The building is declared of cultural interest.

 The hotel has 467 rooms between rooms and suites, in a little over a century is the five-star hotel in Madrid suitable for rest, for business or for those who want to celebrate any event, for which the hotel has 20 rooms covering about 2,400 square meters.
